Catalytic Materials for Gasoline Particulate Filters Soot Oxidation

چکیده
The energy efficiency of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines is leading to a continuous increase in GDI engine vehicle population. Consequently, their particulate matter (soot) emissions are also becoming concern. As required for diesel engines, meet the limits set by regulations, catalyzed filters considered as an effective solution through which soot could be trapped and burnt out. However, contrast application, regeneration gasoline (GPF) critical, it occurs with almost absence NOx under oxygen deficiency. Therefore, recent years was scientific interest develop efficient oxidation catalysts that fit such particular operating conditions. Among them ceria- perovskite-based formulations emerging most promising materials. This overview summarizes very academic contributions focusing on materials GDI, order point out directions this research area.

Microwave-Based Oxidation State and Soot Loading Determination on Gasoline Particulate Filters with Three-Way Catalyst Coating for Homogenously Operated Gasoline Engines
Recently, a novel method emerged to determine the oxygen storage degree of three way catalysts (TWC) by a microwave-based method. Up to now, this method has been investigated only in lab-scale reactors or under steady state conditions. This work expands those initial studies. A TWC-coated gasoline particulate filter was investigated in a dynamic engine test bench simulating a typical European d...
متن کاملCFD Simulation of Soot Filtration in Diesel Particulate Filters
Soot emissions from automotive applications can be reduced through on-board diesel particulate filters (DPFs): the filter gets progressively loaded by filtering the soot laden flue gases, thus causing an increasing pressure drop, until an oxidative regeneration is induced by temperature rise. Due to the complexity of the involved phenomena, a fully predictive and detailed mathematical model rep...
متن کاملCatalytic systems based on Ce, Zr, K for soot oxidation
Systems based on Ce-Zr are used in catalytic converters for their oxygen storage ability. Recently, their application for soot abatement is under investigation. In this paper, preliminary results of the performance of Ce-Zr systems with the addition of K are reported by varying potassium content and calcination temperature. The powder catalysts were prepared by a variant of the citrates route d...
متن کاملCarbon nanofibers grown on metallic filters as novel catalytic materials
Carbon nanofibers (CNF) were synthesized on sintered metal fibers (SMF) filters of nickel and Ni-containing alloys (Inconel, stainless steel (SS)) by thermal chemical vapor deposition of ethane in the presence of hydrogen at 660 8C. The CNFs were formed directly over the SMF filters without deposition of metal particles. The catalytic active sites leading to the CNF formation were attained by o...
متن کاملCharacterization of particulate matter emissions from on-road gasoline and diesel vehicles using a soot particle aerosol mass spectrometer
Particulate matter (PM) emissions were measured in July 2010 from on-road motor vehicles driving through a highway tunnel in the San Francisco Bay area. A soot particle aerosol mass spectrometer (SP-AMS) was used to measure the chemical composition of PM emitted by gasoline and diesel vehicles at high time resolution. Organic aerosol (OA) and black carbon (BC) concentrations were measured durin...
